Quiet October

A quick look at a map (click map for better view) showing severe thunderstorm and tornado warmings issued this month indicates things have been quiet for most of the state. In fact, most of the map is empty over the plains states with the active weather confined to the predominate frontal zones this month as strong high pressure systems have settled into the Midwest.

Cool streak continues

The featured image is of daily departures from normal for high temperature for Ames. You can see the streak of cooler than normal days is at 10 with forecasted highs below normal until mid next week.
