The featured image presents areal averaged daily statewide precipitation estimates for April and May of this year and last versus climatology. 2009 finished the period at right around average while 2008 was nearly 4 inches above. The forecast has the next best chances for rain arriving by week's end.

Two warm days

After a relatively cool period, May was able to muster at least two warm days with highs in the 80s for Ames. A cool front working through the state this morning will help to drop temperatures back in the 70s, which is right about average for this time of the year.
