Additional snow accumulations up to one inch east of US Highway 83. Winds gusting as high as 65 mph. * WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Colorado, northwest and west central Kansas, and southwest Nebraska. * WHEN...Until noon MDT /1 PM CDT/ today. * IMPACTS...The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Visibilities will drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Plan on slippery road conditions. Strong winds could cause tree damage. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Allow extra time if you must travel. Keep a flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of emergency. Travel on Interstate 70 could become dangerous or impossible due to falling or blowing and drifting snow and poor visibility. Whiteout conditions often lead to disorientation, resulting in a life-threatening situation. Do not travel unless it is absolutely necessary.
