...EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST TODAY...
...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING 
TO 9 AM CST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...For the Extreme Cold Warning this morning, dangerously cold 
  wind chills as low as as -20 to -35 below zero. For the Cold 
  Weather Advisory tonight into Friday morning, very cold wind 
  chills as low as -15 to -25 degrees.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, and south central 
  Nebraska, mainly along and north of Highway 6.

* WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, until noon CST today. For the 
  Cold Weather Advisory, from 10 PM this evening to 9 AM CST Friday.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero 
  could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. 
  Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is 
  exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing 
  temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must 
go outside.

To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to 
drip slowly.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and 
unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure 
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills 
inside.

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a 
hat, and gloves.

* WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas and south central 
  Nebraska, near and south of the state line.

* WHEN...Until noon CST today.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero 
  could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. 
  Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is 
  exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing 
  temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Although the worst of this cold snap will end 
  this morning, tonight into Friday morning will bring one final 
  round of very cold wind chills as low as -15 to -20 degrees. As a 
  result, a Cold Weather Advisory may be needed in later forecasts.
