...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 PM EDT FOR
NORTHERN MECKLENBURG...CUMBERLAND...PRINCE EDWARD...LUNENBURG...
NOTTOWAY...AMELIA AND POWHATAN COUNTIES...

At 757 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
that heavy rain was falling over the area. 3 to 6 inches of rain 
have fallen across the warned area with locally higher amounts. 
Flash flooding is already occurring. Rainfall should slowly taper 
down in intensity over the next couple of hours. 

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Powhatan, Cumberland, Farmville, South Hill, Blackstone, Chase City,
Crewe, Victoria, Kenbridge, Mannboro, Hampden Sydney, Hampden Sydney
College, Longwood University, Amelia Courthouse, Nottoway, Lunenburg,
Burkeville, Tobaccoville, Darlington Heights and Trenholm.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
