The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Surry County in northwestern North Carolina...
Yadkin County in northwestern North Carolina...
* Until 515 PM EDT
* At 209 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported that they continue
to receive new reports of flooded roads, bridges, and structures
across their respective counties. Doppler radar indicates that
heavy rain across the warned area will continue for at least
another hour, therefore the flash flood warning will be extended.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Mount Airy...
Elkin...
Fairview...
Flat Rock...
and Yadkinville.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
