...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1115 AM EDT FOR
MONTGOMERY COUNTY...
At 948 AM EDT, emergency management reported widespread flash
flooding in Montgomery County with numerous road closures and water
rescues. Two to over four inches of rain have fallen. The heaviest
rain is over, but an area of moderate to heavy rain is moving south
in areas east of Gaithersburg and this new rain may prolong or
worsen existing flooding. DO NOT DRIVE anywhere where water covers
or is flowing on or across the roadway!
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Germantown, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Olney, Damascus, Poolesville,
Aspen Hill, Potomac, North Bethesda, Montgomery Village, North
Potomac, Redland, Boyds, Rossmoor, Wheaton-Glenmont, Wheaton,
Clarksburg, Darnestown, Derwood and Garrett Park.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
