NORTHWESTERN ST. TAMMANY...CENTRAL LIVINGSTON...CENTRAL TANGIPAHOA
AND WASHINGTON PARISHES...WALTHALL AND NORTHWESTERN PEARL RIVER
COUNTIES...
At 859 PM CST, emergency management reported flash flooding in east
of Dexter closing portions of highway 48. 4 to as much as 10 inches
of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hammond, Bogalusa, Franklinton, Ponchatoula, Amite City, Livingston,
Independence, Tylertown, Varnado, Albany, Folsom, Springfield, Enon,
Mount Herman, Wilmer, Natalbany, Robert, Salem, Dexter and Tickfaw.
Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches with locally higher
amounts are possible in the warned area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
