...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is 
  expected.

* WHERE...A portion of western North Carolina, including the 
  following county, Macon.

* WHEN...Until 1000 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 
  River or stream flows are elevated.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 648 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding. Between
    1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.

    Elevated stream levels can be expected on the Nantahala River
    around Rainbow Springs. Other streams in western Macon County
    could reach bank full conditions.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
    the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Nantahala Lake, Rainbow Springs, Wayah Bald, Aquone, Kyle and
    Otto.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are 
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded 
roads. Find an alternate route.
