...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1215 AM CDT THURSDAY 
FOR CENTRAL CRITTENDEN, LEE, NORTHWESTERN PHILLIPS, SOUTHEASTERN ST. 
FRANCIS, NORTHWESTERN DESOTO, NORTHERN TUNICA, WESTERN CROCKETT, 
EASTERN DYER, NORTHWESTERN FAYETTE, WESTERN GIBSON, NORTHWESTERN 
HAYWOOD, EASTERN LAUDERDALE, OBION, SHELBY, TIPTON AND NORTHWESTERN 
WEAKLEY COUNTIES...

At 949 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 
rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 2.5 inches of rain have 
fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring along multiple locations 
within the flash flood warning. Specifically, reports have been 
received in Northwest Memphis where water is covering multiple lanes 
on Interstate 40 eastbound before the Watkins exit. Water has also 
been reported covering roadways west of Union City, Tennessee, as 
well as Covington, Tennessee.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Bartlett, Southaven, West Memphis, Horn Lake, Dyersburg, Marion, 
  Martin, Union City, Millington, Covington, Ripley, Marianna, 
  Hughes, Marvell, Meeman Shelby Forest State Park, T O Fuller State 
  Park, Helena-West Helena, Memphis, Lakeland and Arlington.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.
