...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM HST 
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with localized gusts over 60 
  mph expected.

* WHERE...Portions of Kauai, Niihau, and Oahu Hawaii. The highest 
  risk for damaging gusts will be over and to the east of mountains, 
  although other areas could see damaging gusts as well.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 6 AM HST Friday. Winds are 
  expected to increase near Kauai this evening into the night. The 
  stronger winds will then spread to Oahu overnight into early 
  Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines, and 
  damage roofs. Power outages are possible. Travel will be 
  difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Prepare for the possibility of property damage and power outages. 
Hazardous driving conditions due to powerful cross winds will pose a 
serious risk for drivers, especially for light weight and high 
profile vehicles. Loose outdoor items should be brought inside or 
secured properly.

  expected.

* WHERE...Portions of Kahoolawe, Lanai, Maui, and Molokai Hawaii. 
  Winds will blow strongest over and near ridges and between gaps in 
  terrain.

* WHEN...From 6 AM Thursday to 6 AM HST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines, and 
  damage roofs. Power outages are possible. Travel will be 
  difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

* WHAT...Southwest winds 30 to 50 mph with gusts up to 75 mph.

* WHERE...Big Island Summits.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM HST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Winds this strong can make driving and walking 
  dangerous. The winds can forcefully open doors and damage hinges 
  or slam doors shut, possibly causing injuries.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Hazardous driving conditions due to powerful cross winds will pose a 
serious risk for drivers, especially for light weight and high 
profile vehicles. Loose outdoor items should be brought inside or 
secured properly.

A High Wind Warning means that winds at the summits are expected to 
be at least 56 mph, with gusts over 66 mph. Take necessary 
precautions to protect property. Travel to summit areas should be 
delayed until winds subside.
