...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 AM EDT FOR
CASWELL...CAMPBELL...PITTSYLVANIA...AND BEDFORD COUNTIES...THE CITY
OF DANVILLE AND THE CITY OF LYNCHBURG...
At 932 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that heavy rain has ended
across the warned area. Flash flooding continues with the runoff
from Thursday's heavy rain. Several roads remained closed due to
flooding. Many creeks and streams are out of their banks and
flooding.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lynchburg...
Danville...
Bedford...
Altavista...
and Yanceyville.
This includes The following Locations Liberty University, The
National D-Day Memorial, Danville Airport, and Lynchburg Airport.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
