13 Nov 2024 Update: The tool was updated to use non-hash link style URLs. A shim is in place to translate the old URLs to the new ones, so nothing should be broken (famous last words). This was done to allow the HTML5 History API to provide a better user experience.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of east Tennessee, including the following
counties, Claiborne and Hancock and southwest Virginia, including
the following counties and independent city, City of Norton, Lee,
Scott and Wise.
* WHEN...Until 400 PM EST.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Overflowing poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1014 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor
flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the
advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible
over the area. This additional rain may result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Norton, Wise, Sneedville, Jonesville, Big Stone Gap, New
Tazewell, Tazewell, Pennington Gap, Harrogate, Coeburn,
Appalachia, Pound, St. Charles, Duffield, Clinchport,
Pattonsville, Kyles Ford, Dryden, Rose Hill and Jasper.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

The threat of flooding continues and a Flash Flood Warning is now in
