13 Nov 2024 Update: The tool was updated to use non-hash link style URLs. A shim is in place to translate the old URLs to the new ones, so nothing should be broken (famous last words). This was done to allow the HTML5 History API to provide a better user experience.

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Central Los Angeles County including the Eaton and Sunset Burn 
  Scars in southwestern California...

* Until 500 AM PDT.

* At 232 AM PDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Flash 
  flooding is expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Pasadena, Griffith Park, Alhambra, Downtown Los Angeles, Burbank, 
  Universal City, Hollywood, Mount Wilson, North Hollywood, Beverly 
  Hills, Van Nuys, Santa Monica, Altadena, Eagle Rock, Glendale, La 
  Canada Flintridge, Hollywood Hills, Hancock Park, Toluca Lake and 
  West Hollywood.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

A Flash Flood Warning for a recent burn area means that flooding and 
debris flows are imminent. Residents living in or immediately 
downstream should heed the advice from local emergency management 
and law enforcement.
