13 Nov 2024 Update: The tool was updated to use non-hash link style URLs. A shim is in place to translate the old URLs to the new ones, so nothing should be broken (famous last words). This was done to allow the HTML5 History API to provide a better user experience.

.NWS Employees, Emergency Management, and Public have reported water 
that had risen out small streams and drainage ditches toward both 
business and residential structures. Standing water and ponding will 
continue over the next several hours near and within the city of 
Rayne. Neighboring cities within western Lafayette and eastern 
Acadia Parishes will also continue to experience aerial flooding 
through the next several hours.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 245 AM CDT SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive 
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Louisiana, 
  including the following parishes, in south central Louisiana, 
  Lafayette. In southwest Louisiana, Acadia.

* WHEN...Until 245 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying 
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams 
  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. 
  Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 849 PM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rainfall
    has occurred in Rayne due to thunderstorms. Although rainfall
    has ceased, flooding is still ongoing. Between 6 and 10
    inches of rain have fallen.
  - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
    expected.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Crowley, Scott, Rayne, Duson, Mire, Lyons Point and
    Estherwood.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.
