13 Nov 2024 Update: The tool was updated to use non-hash link style URLs. A shim is in place to translate the old URLs to the new ones, so nothing should be broken (famous last words). This was done to allow the HTML5 History API to provide a better user experience.

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 615 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of northern Florida, including the following 
  county, Alachua.

* WHEN...Until 615 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 406 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Gainesville, University Of Florida, Gainesville Airport,
    Newnans Lake, Rochelle and Orange Heights.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

The Flood Advisory will expire at 615 PM EDT this evening for a 
portion of northern Florida, including the following area, central 
Alachua county. Heavy rainfall occurred with the Gainesville Airport 
measuring 2.83 inches, most of occurring between 3 pm and 5 pm.

Flood waters have receded. The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no 
longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed remaining 
road closures.
