13 Nov 2024 Update: The tool was updated to use non-hash link style URLs. A shim is in place to translate the old URLs to the new ones, so nothing should be broken (famous last words). This was done to allow the HTML5 History API to provide a better user experience.

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* Snow Squall Warning for...
  Yavapai County in west central Arizona...
  Coconino County in north central Arizona...

* Until 445 PM MST/545 PM MDT.

* At 413 PM MST/513 PM MDT, a dangerous snow squall was located along
  a line extending from Bismarck Lake to Fort Tuthill Park to Thunder
  Mountain Trailhead, moving northeast at 45 mph.

  HAZARD...Whiteout conditions with near zero visibility associated 
           with intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds leading 
           to blowing snow. Wind gusts greater than 50 mph could 
           knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

  SOURCE...Radar and webcams.

  IMPACT...Dangerous and life-threatening travel conditions are 
           expected to develop rapidly in the warning area.

This includes the following highways...
 Route 66 between mile markers 192 and 204.
 Interstate 40 between mile markers 190 and 227.
 Interstate 17 between mile markers 312 and 339.
 State Route 179 between mile markers 307 and 313.
 State Route 89A between mile markers 369 and 398.
 U.S. Highway 89 between mile markers 419 and 441.
 Highway 180 between mile markers 217 and 226, and near mile marker
236.

Locations impacted include...
Downtown Flagstaff, Kachina Village, Munds Park, and Winona.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Reduce speed and turn on headlights! During snow squalls, the
visibility may suddenly drop to near zero in whiteout conditions.

Consider avoiding or delaying travel until the snow squall passes
your location. If you must travel, use extra caution and allow extra
time. Rapid changes in visibility and slick road conditions may lead
to accidents.
