13 Nov 2024 Update: The tool was updated to use non-hash link style URLs. A shim is in place to translate the old URLs to the new ones, so nothing should be broken (famous last words). This was done to allow the HTML5 History API to provide a better user experience.

...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR ALONG THE I-2 CORRIDOR...

The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern Hidalgo County in deep south Texas...

* Until 930 PM CDT.

* At 623 PM CDT, Emergency management reported slow-moving 
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 
  4 and 8 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 
  2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is 
  ongoing, with reports of numerous vehicles stranded on the 
  interstate and frontage road.

  This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Along the I-2 Corridor. This 
  is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

  IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK
           HIGHER GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of
           low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Pharr, Harlingen, Weslaco, San Juan, Alamo, Donna, Mercedes, 
  Progreso, South McAllen, Donna City Hall, A.p. Solis Middle 
  School, Scissors, Donna Police Department, Donna Public Library, 
  Donna High School, Midway South, Midway North, Weslaco High 
  School, Harlon Block Sports Complex and Villa Verde.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and 
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are 
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
