The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  The Santa Monica Mountains to the Hollywood Hills and Griffith 
  Park as well as the Adjacent Foothills in the Valleys, and the 
  Cities of Malibu and Beverly Hills of Los Angeles County in 
  southwestern California...

* Until 900 AM PST Monday.

* At 1138 PM PST, Numerous damaging landslides, flooded roadways, 
  submerged vehicles, and flooded creeks and streams are ongoing in 
  the warning area. Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the 
  warned area. Automated rain gauges indicate between 5 and 8 inches 
  of rain having fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 4 
  inches are possible in the warned area. Life-threatening flash 
  flooding is ongoing and will continue into the morning hours of 
  Monday.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding and landslides
           produced by heavy rain. THIS IS A PARTICULARLY
           DANGEROUS SITUATION!

  SOURCE...Broadcast media, law enforcement, radar, and automated
           rain gauges.

  IMPACT...Life-threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
           Destructive and life-threatening landslides.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Westlake Village, Malibu, Woodland Hills, Encino, Santa Monica, 
  Agoura Hills, Van Nuys, Beverly Hills, North Hollywood, Hollywood, 
  Universal City, Burbank, Griffith Park, Topanga State Park, 
  Calabasas, Pacific Palisades, Malibu Creek State Park, Brentwood 
  and Interstate 405 through the Sepulveda Pass.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are 
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded 
roads. Find an alternate route.

Life-threatening landslides are occurring. Residents should take 
immediate precautions to protect life and property.

At 215 AM PST, Numerous damaging landslides, flooded roadways, 
submerged vehicles, and flooded creeks and streams are ongoing in 
the warning area. Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the 
warned area. Automated rain gauges indicate between 5 and 9 inches 
of rain having fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches 
are possible in the warned area. Life-threatening flash flooding is 
ongoing and will continue into the morning hours of Monday.
