The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northwestern Chaves County in southeastern New Mexico...

* Until 330 AM MDT.

* At 1228 AM MDT, emergency management reported that numerous water 
  rescues are ongoing throughout the Roswell area. The Spring River 
  in the Cahoon area has risen, stranding several vehicles under 
  bridges along the River. Water is entering homes in the area as 
  well. Between 5 and 9 inches of rain have fallen. Additional 
  rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are possible in the warned 
  area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

  FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Roswell. This is a PARTICULARLY 
  DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

  IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK
           HIGHER GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of
           low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Roswell.

This includes the following highways...
	Highway 380 between Mile Markers 156 and 159.
	Highway 285 near Mile Marker 104.

Numerous roads around Roswell are inaccessible due to flooding. 
Although rainfall has ended, the water will take a very long time to 
recede.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and 
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are 
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the roadway. 
The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely.
