* Until 845 PM EDT Thursday
* At 238 PM EDT, emergency management reported extreme flooding
across the warned area. Up to 6 inches of rain have already fallen
in some areas with numerous swift water rescues and evacuations.
This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for the Roanoke Metro area! This
is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION!
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Roanoke...
Salem...
Vinton...
Catawba...
and Bent Mountain.
In addition, the Roanoke River at Roanoke is forecast to reach Major
flood stage later today with a stage over 16 feet.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

flooding and water rescues across the warned area. The rainfall has
come to an end however and conditions may begin to improve over the
next few hours.
This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for the Roanoke Metro area! This

CITY OF ROANOKE IS CANCELLED...
The heavy rain has ended. Flood water are receding and conditions
are improving across the area. An areal flood warning has been
issued for this region. Several creeks and streams are out of their
banks and flooding. A river flood warning has been posted for the
Roanoke river. Local law enforcement reports that many roads
remained closed due to high water. Please continue to heed any
remaining road closures.
When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
