...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR WHITE COUNTY!...

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern White County in northeastern Georgia...

* Until 1000 PM EDT.

* At 404 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the 
  warned area. Widespread amounts of three to five inches of rain 
  have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring. Law enforcement 
  has reported several roads under water. 

  This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for White County! This is a 
  PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Cleveland, Leaf, Mossy Creek, Smithgall Woods Conservation Are and
  Sautee.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now. Do NOT drive into flooded areas. This is 
an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation. Do not 
attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding 
or under an evacuation order.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1000 PM EDT FOR
SOUTHEASTERN WHITE COUNTY...

At 659 PM EDT, the rain had ended across White County, however 
runoff from earlier torrential rainfall will continue to fill larger 
creeks and streams resulting in additional rises is some areas. The 
greatest threat for flash flooding are in creeks and streams in the 
mountainous areas between Helen and Cleveland. Water levels are 
expected to recede later tonight.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
