...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR WESTERN TO NORTHWESTERN CAMERON 
COUNTY...

The National Weather Service in Brownsville has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  West Central Cameron County in deep south Texas...

* Until 300 AM CDT.

* At 222 AM CDT, Emergency management reported multiple high-profile 
  water rescues ongoing with flooded frontage roads from Santa Rosa 
  to Combes and northern Harlingen. Between 6 and 11 inches of rain 
  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of up to one half inch 
  are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already 
  occurring.

  This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Western to Northwestern 
  Cameron County. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK 
  HIGHER GROUND NOW!

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

  IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK
           HIGHER GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of
           low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Harlingen, Santa Rosa, Palm Valley, Primera, Combes, Doctor 
  Hesiquio Rodriguez Elementary School, Wilson Elementary School, 
  Palm Valley Police Department, Combes Community Center, Dishman 
  Elementary School, Moises Vela Middle School, Harlingen High 
  School South, Lamar Elementary School, Grand Acres, Santa Rosa 
  High School, Harlingen City Reservoir, Harligen Municipal Golf 
  Course, Tierra Bonita, Santa Rosa Police Department and Harlingen 
  Public Library.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and 
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are 
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
