...The National Weather Service in Blacksburg VA has issued a Flood 
Warning for the following rivers in Virginia...

  James River At Holcomb Rock affecting Bedford, Campbell, Amherst 
  and City of Lynchburg independent cities.

  James River At Bent Creek affecting Buckingham, Appomattox and 
  Nelson Counties.

  James River At Scottsville affecting Buckingham, Fluvanna and 
  Albemarle Counties.

For the Middle James...including Holcomb Rock, Bent Creek, 
Scottsville...Minor flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive 
cars through flooded areas.

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths 
occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, 
dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, 
even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route 
over higher ground.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...James River at Holcomb Rock.

* WHEN...From this evening to Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 23.0 feet, Power equipment yard and access flooded at 
  holcomb rock dam.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 8:45 AM EST Sunday the stage was 18.8 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
    this evening to a crest of 22.9 feet just after midnight
    tonight. It will then fall below flood stage Monday.
  - Flood stage is 22.0 feet.

  and cropland affected.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 9:00 AM EST Sunday the stage was 13.2 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 16.0 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
    late this evening to a crest of 16.4 feet just after midnight
    tonight. It will then fall below flood stage Monday.
  - Flood stage is 16.0 feet.

  - At 9:15 AM EST Sunday the stage was 19.0 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
    just after midnight tonight to a crest of 21.2 feet tomorrow
    morning. It will then fall below flood stage Monday night.
  - Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
