...EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO
NOON PST THURSDAY...
...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON THURSDAY TO
NOON PST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills ("feels like") as low as zero
  degrees fahrenheit expected.

* WHERE...Western and Central Columbia River Gorge, the Corbett area
  and the Hood River Valley.

* WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 7 PM this evening to
noon PST Thursday. For the Cold Weather Advisory, from noon
  Thursday to noon PST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
  is exposed to these temperatures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Hypothermia, cooling of the internal body temperature, occurs
quickly and is often unnoticed by the victim until it is too late.
Exposed skin can suffer from frostbite very quickly at these
temperatures. If you must venture outdoors, make sure to dress
properly for extreme cold. Multiple layers of clothing including
outdoor jackets and pants are the best way to stay warm during
extreme cold, helping to prevent frostbite and/or hypothermia. These
items include: hat, gloves, winter jacket, face mask, thicker socks,
and cold weather footwear. Hand and foot warmers are also
recommended.

frostbite and/or hypothermia. These items include: hat, gloves,
winter jacket, face mask, thicker socks, and cold weather footwear.
Hand and foot warmers are also recommended. Hypothermia can set in
within 30 minutes.

Backcountry recreation is not advised.

Those planning to venture outdoors should use common sense and dress
warmly, making sure exposed skin is properly covered to prevent
frostbite and/or hypothermia.

Avoid being outdoors in wet conditions which can increase the risk
of the body cooling down and becoming hypothermic.
