At 1145 PM EDT, emergency management reported major flash flooding in southern Steuben County. Between 2.5 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The heaviest rain has ended. Runoff and high water continues to cause major flash flooding in southern Steuben County. This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Addison. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Lindley, Addison, Woodhull, Jasper, Troupsburg, Erwins, Gang Mills and Pinnacle State Park. Between 2 and 5 feet of water were reported to be flowing through the hamlet of Woodhull. Evacuations were taking place in the Village of Addison. Several cars have been reported to have been swept away or stranded in flood waters. The Tuscarora Creek near Addison crested at 14.36 feet which exceeded the previous record crest of 13 feet set in 2004 from the remnants of Hurricane Ivan. Numerous roads and bridges were reported to be flooded. A state of emergency is in effect for many of these locations. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Move to higher ground now.
