At 654 AM CDT, Emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain in City of Seneca and surrounding areas. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. Water was quickly rising into numerous homes as additional heavy rain was moving into the area. This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Seneca and low lying areas along Lost Creek. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Neosho, Seneca and Racine. Evacuations were currently taking place in Seneca. Numerous homes, businesses, and government buildings are in jeopardy of flooding from the rising creek levels along Lost Creek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.
