...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR TALLAHATCHIE COUNTY...

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 AM CDT THIS 
MORNING FOR SOUTHWESTERN PANOLA, SOUTHERN QUITMAN, TALLAHATCHIE AND 
WESTERN YALOBUSHA COUNTIES...

At 1008 AM CDT, emergency management reported widespread, 
significant flooding across Tallahatchie County. Thunderstorms are 
redeveloping across the area and will dump additional heavy rainfall 
over already flooded areas. Between 6 and 10 inches of rain have 
fallen since midnight. The expected rainfall rate within 
thunderstorms is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall 
amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible across the warned area. Flash 
flooding is already occurring and travel is discouraged across the 
entire county.

This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Tallahatchie County. This is a 
PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER
         GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water
         crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Charleston, George Payne State Park, Tutwiler, Marks, Lambert, 
  Crowder, Webb, Sumner, Pope, Paynes, Vance, Enid, Scobey, Oakland, 
  Courtland, Glendora, Waverly, Effie, Tippo and Brazil.

Numerous homes are being evacuated, some via boat, across the county.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and 
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are 
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.
