PARISHES...

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM CDT SATURDAY FOR 
AVOYELLES, EVANGELINE, RAPIDES, ST. LANDRY, NORTHERN LAFAYETTE, 
NORTHEASTERN ACADIA, NORTHEASTERN ALLEN AND EASTERN VERNON 
PARISHES...

At 1053 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned 
area. Between 6 and 12 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is 
already occurring.

This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Northern Evangeline and Rapides 
Parishes. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER 
GROUND NOW!

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Doppler radar.

IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER
         GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water
         crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Lafayette, Alexandria, Opelousas, Pineville, Scott, Rayne, 
  Carencro, Ville Platte, Marksville, Church Point, Bunkie, Mamou, 
  Simmesport, Glenmora, Leonville, Boyce, Moreauville, Cheneyville, 
  Elizabeth and Turkey Creek.

Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the 
warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. 
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately. 
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate 
precautions to protect life and property.

Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and 
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are 
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.
