...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR BASSETT AND STANLEYTOWN...

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 230 PM EDT THIS 
AFTERNOON FOR NORTHWESTERN HENRY COUNTY...

At 1015 AM EDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in between 
Bassett and Stanleytown. Multiple vehicles stranded, houses flooded 
and gas leaks are being reported. Between 4 and 5 inches of rain 
have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing.

This is a FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Bassett and Stanleytown. This is 
a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW!

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Emergency management.

IMPACT...This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER
         GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water
         crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Bassett, Stanleytown, Fieldale, Sanville, Oak Level and 
  Collinsville.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Blackberry Creek, Muddy Creek, Smith River, Grassy Fork, Koger 
  Creek, Jordan Creek, Reed Creek, Bull Run, Horse Pasture Creek and 
  Beaver Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and 
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are 
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding, 
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
