...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 AM CDT FOR
EAST CENTRAL WILL AND SOUTHEASTERN COOK COUNTIES...

At 336 AM CDT, Automated rain gauges indicated storm total rainfall
of four to five inches had occurred in a few areas of Richton Park,
Steger, and Crete. Flash flooding is already occurring across the
area including numerous creeks, roadways, and underpasses. This
flooding will continue over the next several hours.

This is a particularly dangerous situation! Flood waters in
Butterfield Creek, Thorn Creek, Deer Creek, and Plum Creek are
moving northward downstream toward Olympia Fields, Chicago Heights,
Ford Heights, Glenwood, Lynwood, and Dyer. Although some locations
may crest soon, locations downstream may continue to rise for
several hours into late this morning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons near streams and creeks or in flood prone areas should move
immediately to higher ground to protect life and property!

Night time flooding is particularly dangerous.... Turn around, don't
drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in
vehicles.
