...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 430 PM EDT FOR
NORTHWESTERN LANCASTER COUNTY...
At 155 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms continuing to produce heavy rain over the warned area.
Over three inches of rain has already fallen from Manheim to Mount
Joy to near Salunga-Landisville, along the Chickies Creek. Flash
flooding is expected to begin shortly, with the biggest impact in
these areas.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Manheim, Mount Joy, Salunga-Landisville, Lancaster, Elizabethtown,
Columbia, Lititz, East Petersburg, Maytown, Marietta, Rheems,
Bainbridge, Penryn and Washington Boro.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
