The featured map presents the current coverage of NWS issued Frost Advisories valid this Tuesday morning. Such advisories are issued for first freezing temperatures of the season as a means to alert the public to tend to outside vegetation that they may not want to be damaged. The advisory also implies that temperatures will just slightly dip to freezing and/or impact just low laying areas. A Freeze Warning is issued to cover even colder temperatures and a higher probability to damage/kill plants for the season. It is interesting to see 98 of Iowa's 99 counties lit up with only Lee County left out of the alert.
