Relative Humidity Changes
Posted: 18 Sep 2020 05:51 AM
The featured chart presents a 2-D histogram of 24 hour relative humidity change based on hourly
data from the Des Moines Airport weather station. The metric computed is the difference in absolute
percentage values over 24 hours. For example, if the RH% value at noon today is 75% and tomorrow
at noon is 50%, this would appear in the -25% bin on the chart. The highest frequencies are located
near to zero, which generally supports the persistence forecast (what happens today is likely to
happen tomorrow). The highest frequencies and lowest ranges are located over the last half of the
summer season when absolute humidity levels are elevated.
