Had more snow cover in November

Posted: 08 Jan 2020 05:34 AM

Based on a simple spatial analysis of available NWS COOP snow depth reports, the featured chart presents an areal estimated coverage percentage of snow depth of at least one inch for Iowa. Only a few brief days this winter season have shown values above 50% and we've seen much larger coverage back in November than we do now in January. Of course, the main snow producing part of the winter season has yet to come (March + April).
