Continuing to feature interesting things from 2024, we find that the NWS issued their first Severe Thunderstorm Warning with a predicted max hail size of five inches in diameter. The warning was issued by NWS Lubbock, TX back in May and included this SVS update with the five inch max hail size tag. The NWS includes a maximum wind gust and hail size "tag" with each Severe Thunderstorm Warning. These tags can update as the warning evolves, so the featured chart presents the maximum independently computed wind and hail tag for each warning since the inception of these tags back in 2010. The IEM has a few apps concerning these tags including a simple listing and they are included within the warning download.
