Why was this network built?

• Understanding the original purpose of the network will give you great insight into data quality, reliability, and timeliness

  • SchoolNets need to report live on-air (viewers see movement of variables -> instantaneous winds)
  • USGS/DCP sites primarily observe water conditions, other sensors may just be addons
  • Some variables are just not measured by other networks, ex -> pavement conditions
