Days since measurable precip

Posted: 14 Dec 2023 05:30 AM

For much of northcentral and northwestern Iowa, the months of November and December have been incredibly dry with no or barely any precipitation reported. The featured map back on 30 November pointed out an area over northwestern Iowa that was analyzed to have gotten no precipitation during November. Much of that area has remained dry for December as shown by today's featured map. The map presents the number of days one has to travel backwards in time before collecting a measurable amount of precipitation, which is defined as 0.01 inches. The Spencer area is shown in the 45 to 60 day range, which takes you back to late October!
