Last Hurricane Warning

Posted: 12 Jul 2019 05:36 AM

The weather focus this weekend is on the tropical system named Barry over the northern Gulf of Mexico set to come ashore on Saturday. Hurricane Warnings have been issued by the National Weather Service for the event. The featured map presents the number of days since the last issuance of a Hurricane Warning by NWS Forecast Office. The weather enthusiast can likely name the hurricanes associated with each office's last date shown on the map. For example, Hurricane Michael is the last for much of Florida and even inland into Georgia from October 2018. For the present system, the largest impacts appear to be from flooding rains and storm surge. For Iowa, it appears we will miss out on the precipitation from this system as it passes to our south and east.
