...Critical Fire Weather Conditions Friday...

.Strong winds and low relative humidity values will lead to very
high to extreme fire danger during the day Friday. Winds may gust
as high as 40 to 55 mph in the afternoon. Relative humidity 
values will drop to 25 to 30 percent in the afternoon with gradual
improvement possible as clouds approach from the north.

EVENING FOR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR NORTHERN IOWA...

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from noon today to 6 PM CST this
evening. 

* AFFECTED AREA...Northern Iowa.

* WIND...West to northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts 40 to 55
  mph.

* HUMIDITY...As low as 25 percent, some improvement late in the
  day. 

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. 
  Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
