The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Eastern Los Angeles County in southwestern California...

* Until midnight PST tonight.

* At 451 PM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
  heavy rain showers overspreading the warned area. Up to 1 inch of 
  rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches are 
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding and debris flows caused by heavy rain.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Long Beach, Wrightwood, Alhambra, Whittier, West Covina, Pasadena, 
  Mount Wilson, Glendora, Downtown Los Angeles, San Dimas, Pomona, 
  Inglewood, Torrance, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo 
  Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes and Altadena.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Debris flows are imminent or occurring. Residents should take 
immediate precautions to protect life and property.
