...FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY FOR CITIES OF CANTON AND CLYDE AND PIGEON
RIVER VALLEY TO LAKE WATERVILLE...

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 215 AM EDT WEDNESDAY
FOR CENTRAL HAYWOOD COUNTY...

At 1040 PM EDT, UPDATE: The Pigeon River streamgauge at Canton
crested at 19.8 feet at 8:15 pm. The floodwave peak has passed
Canton and is currently working through Clyde. Therefore, while
significant Major flood levels are decreasing slowly in Canton, new
areas of significant flooding downstream from Clyde to Lake
Waterville are expected to develop and continue over the next

guidance from local officials as it will take quite some time for
floodwaters to fully recede.

Significant rainfall totaling 4-7 inches was observed across Haywood
